PTA Book Club

The PTA Book Club begins on Tuesday, February 4th. The club will run the first three lunch times in February, and this year’s theme is kindness. If your child is interested in participating, please complete the registration form by January 31.

There is no cost to the students for this program. Book clubbers will discuss the book each week with their peers using the literature circle method. Participating students will receive the chosen book from the Dryden PTA!

Soup/chili lunch for staff – cooks needed!

The PTA Teacher Appreciation Committee is looking for volunteers to make and bring in either a soup or chili for Thursday, January 23rd, 2020. We are asking that volunteers bring their soup/chili in their own crockpot. We are asking volunteers to please bring in their soup/chili around 11:00AM on Thursday, January 23rd and please return by 3:00PM to grab your crockpot and any additional dishes. Family Reading Night

Get ready for a cozy night of reading with your family! Dryden’s annual Family Reading Night will be on Thursday, January 30 at 6:30 PM. Wear your jammies and get ready to listen to stories read to you and your whole family by your favorite Dryden staff members. The PTA Book Fair will be set up in the LMC that night, so you can purchase some great books, too! Family Reading Night will end at 8:00 PM after a whole group story and bedtime snack in the gym, but the book fair will be open until 8:30 PM.

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be taking over the LMC January 28 – 30. The Book Fair will be open during regular school hours. All students will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair with their class.

New this year, starting January 13th, you’ll have the option to load money in an eWallet for students so they can spend prepaid funds at the fair. Click here, scroll down, and follow eWallet instructions.

If you’d like to preview the books that will be available or if you’d like to shop online, you can visit our online Scholastic website Online shopping will be available January 22 – February 4. Books ordered online will be shipped to Dryden and delivered to your student.

Keep Calm AHC PTA Contest!

Arlington Heights Council of PTAs (AHCPTA) would like to invite current Kindergartens through 7th graders to share how they “KEEP CALM” by creating a T-shirt Design and complete the phrase “Keep Calm AND ______.”

Deadline: January 31, 2020 at 11:59 pm.

Four (4) Winners will be selected to receive a *$250 D25 Summer U Voucher- one each from grades: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-7. Top Winner will have design turned into a T-Shirt, and will receive free T-shirt. KEEP CALM T-Shirt sales will be available in early Spring. 100% profits from T-shirt sales will support 2021 AHCPTA/D25 Scholarship Fund. Everyone will be encouraged to wear the “Keep Calm ” T-shirt during Mental Health Month in May. Date to be announced.

Calling all Dryden students! Do you have a special talent that you’d like to share with the Dryden Community?! Now’s your chance! The Dryden Variety Show will be held on Friday, February 21st! All ages and all school appropriate acts are welcome (example: dance, magic, song, poetry).

To Sign Up, Start Here: If interested, please start by filling out the form below so that we have all of the necessary information. If performing in a group, you only need to submit one form on behalf of the group, but be sure to include the name of each performer (this is displayed on the Google form.) Sign ups closed on MONDAY, JAN 13 at noon.

The ABC/25 Foundation is a non-for-profit organization founded by a group of caring parents to give “A Better Community” to students and staff of District 25 by fostering innovation, creativity and excellence in our schools. Over the past 24 years, the foundation has raised and contributed over one million dollars to fund numerous projects and grants for District 25 which directly impact students and teachers!

Are you a member of the ABC/25 Foundation? If not, you’re missing out on an amazing way to support the D25 schools! Proceeds from the $40 family memberships go directly to fund grants that allow D25 teachers and staff to access tools and resources that aren’t available through curriculum budgets.
